Description: The Hwy 150 rock weir job was a fish ladder built from rip rap to restore Steelhead migration up Santa Paula Creek. The first season of work saw many delays as Caltrans redesigned the diversion system. Originally planned to be staked to the ground, the redesign called for the 3-foot diversion pipe to be hung from large chains attached to rock bolts drilled into the cliff. The project included 7,000 tons of Class 3 permeable base; 7,900 tons of 2-ton rip rap; and 2,700 tons of 6-ton rock weirs.

Description: This intersection improvement included the construction of a retaining wall system as well as the widening of the U.S. Route 101 northbound on-ramp and auxiliary lane. The scope of work also included roadway drainage, pavement delineation, electrical work and landscaping.

Description: This project created a new entrance road leading into the university from Lewis Road. The four-lane entrance road is elevated on an earthen embankment and provides surface drainage beneath. Work included reinforced concrete boxes, a vehicular bridge and a steel truss-style pedestrian bridge crossing over a creek. Within the 30 acre project, C. A. Rasmussen, Inc. built 4,800 linear feet of new levee, processed around 300,000 cubic yards of dirt, and graded more than 2,000,000 square feet of pads and streets.

Description: This project widened Madera Road from Presidential Drive to Simi Valley’s west city limits. The improvements included construction of a retaining wall, roadway paving, about 2,800 linear feet of curb and gutter, 13,900 square feet of sidewalk, a landscaped median and traffic signal modification.

Description: This project placed a prefabricated steel bridge over a busy street in residential Valencia. The construction included abutments and a concrete bridge deck, concrete walks, retaining walls, block curb and metal railing, parkway drain, traffic control, fencing and landscaping.

Description: For this complex bridge project, both the Tampa Avenue and Winnetka Avenue bridges over the Los Angeles River were widened by 10 feet on either side and were updated to the latest seismic standards. The Winnetka bridge needed to be lifted completely off of its supports to replace its bearing pads. Rasmussen also constructed a segment of the bikeway that runs along the Los Angeles River. This work comprised cutting a notch into the side of the channel, driving piles to support a retaining wall and then placing concrete to make the 12 foot wide bikepath. Other work included CIDH, driven piles and utility relocation.

Description: This project reconstructed 1.5 miles of a two-lane road, including full-depth subgrade reclamation. Work comprised rock excavation, new drainage structures, road re-alignment and asphalt paving. Even with adverse weather and unforeseen changes in the design, this project was completed on time and within budget.

Description: Construction of a new 4 line road for a new 1200 home development in Canyon Country California. Skyline Ranch Road is the new backbone roadway for the new Skyline Rach project for Pardee Home. The project included over 6 miles of new curb and gutter, 15,000 TNs of Asphalt Concrete, and new sidewalks.

Description: For this project along Ventura’s Surfers Point beach, C. A. Rasmussen, Inc. developed the tidelands portion of a managed shoreline retreat, including stabilization and restoration of approximately 1,800 linear feet of beach. The project included demolition of an existing parking lot and excavation of underlying fill (including sand, silt and debris), to a depth of approximately 6 to 8 feet above sea level. Another component was the construction of a 1,800-foot-long, 13.5-foot-high cobble berm and the creation of a vegetated sand dune above the berm. Lumber boardwalks were also placed to provide access through the dunes.

Description: For this project, Rasmussen is constructing a new freeway interchange for traffic to reach Commerce Center Drive off of state Route 126. The project consists of a cast-in-place, prestressed reinforced concrete bridge lifting through traffic over Commerce Center Drive. It also called for soil-cement bank stabilization on the nearby Santa Clara River.
