Description: For this project along Ventura’s Surfers Point beach, C. A. Rasmussen, Inc. developed the tidelands portion of a managed shoreline retreat, including stabilization and restoration of approximately 1,800 linear feet of beach. The project included demolition of an existing parking lot and excavation of underlying fill (including sand, silt and debris), to a depth of approximately 6 to 8 feet above sea level. Another component was the construction of a 1,800-foot-long, 13.5-foot-high cobble berm and the creation of a vegetated sand dune above the berm. Lumber boardwalks were also placed to provide access through the dunes.
